This is definitely a big topic of conversation at the moment, with predictions of downed trees and power outages. Tomorrow is supposed to be fairly nice, so before this weather event hits I need to focus on getting my garlic planted. Then Wednesday we can hunker down and stay inside where it's warm and dry.

We woke up to our first dusting of snow! It'll melt shortly, and then we'll be hustling to unload a yard of 2-year old composted manure to top dress the garlic beds. I hate to be running a heavy wheelbarrow over our water-logged lawn, but there is no other option. We got 39cm(15") of rain in October, as well as 27cm(11") so far in November. Apart from some sunshine today and tomorrow the long term forecast shows more rainy days ahead. Thank goodness we're on high dry ground.

Pictured here are Rosella Cherry tomatoes, which are growing in a raised planter under cover of the overhang of the roof. They taste especially sweet and delicious on a snowy morning.

In Vancouver, we're expecting high winds. I live on a hill and behind me are many many fir trees. They are notorious for falling. We head down to Portland for the day for med appts for hubs, but will be home by the time the winds come.
