I have one of those expanding files I got at the thrift store. I file seeds alphabetically in it and keep them catalogued in a very arcane fashion known as a ledger.
Its a spiral notebook, handwritten.
UPDATE
Once the Manifest Vision takes hold, the subconscious goes to work.
I have come across a very nice wheelbarrow recently, lying on the side of the road.
It is bent a little from having fallen off the back of a truck - but I can right it. So now I have a cart AND a barrow.
I use an electric Black and Decker. I got it from a friend who never used it, so it had gotten abit shop worn. In my usual repurposing fashion, I made a few repairs and upgrades. But it works good.
Try asking it around on Craiglist and Freecycle for a month. I did that and got several offers...
I have started. I'm keeping it simple and just planting Southern "traditionals" outdoors:
Collards... "Georgia"
Mustards... "Red Leaf" and "Large Curled Leaf"
Turnips... "Red Top"
Radishes... "Sparkler"
I'm pulling the last of the melons this weekend, doing some clean up and replanting with...
SO basically take off the outer layer?
This goes against the grain, you know, cutting off good turnip. But its worth a try.
I don't mind the taste of turnips - what some call their bitterness. To me it is all nectar from the earth.
But if it means my family may give them a shot, hey I'm up...
Those are gorgeous rolls! I remember when I was in Germany, eating those yummy rolls. You would buy roasted 'wuersten' (sausages) from the street vendors and they had those warm fresh breads to go with them. Awesome!
New York hot dogs got nuttin' on them, believe me.
Yours look scrumptuous.

I got 8 more seeds of Roma bush beans, today, split between two packs. At this rate I may have some to plant next season!
I also got "The Letter," exhorting me to be mindful of my status as a mere hobbyist.
Lessee... what can I request next?
Im learning that it goes by other names: no till gardening, no dig gardening, sheet compost gardening. TMEN news has done more than a few articles on it, one quite recent. In that one, the author just layered wet newspaper and purchased compost.
The concept is simple: to allow composting...
For once, it looks like I can get ahead of something for next year. If I get a layered bed system planned and going now, I can have it ready by spring.
SO who does this, and what are some good on-line links? I really don't want to buy yet another gardening book! :barnie
All my yellow crook necks are warted and I think if you do some research, you'll find that is a normal state of affairs.
At first I thought it was weird, too. Then, the more I looked into it, the more I learned that was normal for many, many cultivars.
SO dont worry - eat up and enjoy!
Many of you may have caught that I have gotten onto a seed clearance at one of the local stores. Well, that has finally ended, but has left me with a lot of seeds. So the answer is simple - Hold a contest!
This "contest" is just a simple trivia quiz - some gardening related, some not. The...
