You're doing a great job Secuono.
He seems like a real sweet boy.

When I first got him 4ish years ago, he was a crazy, spooky, dangerous, nervous loonie!
But in the past last year, he has really mentally matured and mellowed out!
I'm very glad I didn't sell him off right away and decided to stick with him. I think he may be what some people call a "heart horse". I saw a lot of myself in him, which made me refuse to give up on him.
He's a very good guy, hope I never have to sell him! ♡♡♡

Midday stroll today in the wintec saddle.
Touches fully when sat in, but w/o rider the back 1/3 of it flops around. Ugh... =/
Now that I know he is calm, gentle, willing and "rideable", I will go back and test out some more saddles.
November, I have a scheduled meeting with a trainer, for him and for me.
All but the first pic are from midday today. He can steer with a halter.
I was nervous at first, since I wasn't sure if the saddle fit him enough not to blow up on me. But he never freaked, once I got off and lunged him, I could see it would flap around. I know, I know, "why didn't you lunge first?!" Well, he was sedate both times, so the saddle didn't bother him enough to retaliate. He's a good boy. I need to be more OCD than him to make sure things fit well. :)
I'm also going to special order the T4 Broadback saddle from Dover. Hoping it will fit nicely now and when he is fit.
But will try the newer and flatter Wintec saddles, again, too. Couldn't ride him last time I tested them, can ride him now.

I don't know what the newer Wintecs are like, but they used to be well known for their poor fit of the horse and soring them. Just a heads up so you don't get something that doesn't work for you.

My old Paint mare fit perfectly to the Wintec 250 AP. I tried over 7-8 saddles before that one.
I rehomed her because she was way too w/e about people. Tried for 3 years to make it work, but she just didn't care for us.
Two minis and the gelding are very personable, with the silver mini being borderline aloof. But she will still stop w/e she is doing to greet a human and to get some love.
The newer Wintec should be more flat. I'll see what it does before, during and after a ride. If it isn't great, then I'll move on. I don't want my boy freaking out over saddle fit.

I ended up bringing home a western saddle to test out. It's super comfy for me, but he's still too fat for it to fit well. It has the right front to back shape, though. Going to try it out again tomorrow and really feel it out and scrutinize it. Seems like his breed are normally FQHB, so once he's fit (winter/spring), it ~should~ fit.

Will take the Wintec to another tack store for consignment tomorrow. One I took it to today doesn't take in old tack. =/
