the funny thing about that fine is a couple months earlier they had their insurance provider "safety people" walk though the plant and they missed everyone of the things, my drill press was the big fine not bolted down and no bit guard. got a ass crewing over that. all i could say how come the safety people did not point it out.
the owner only response was.... fix it.....

wow the first smart thing they have ever done....they have invited osha to visit all the locations.....:thumbsup

there are 2 sides of osha.
the people who are visiting us next tuesday are from the "compliance" department,< which will be 2 different people> <1 is health, the other is safety> when they come out and visit they will not "fine you" on the spot ,but what they do find wrong they tell you how to fix it and give you x amount of time to fix it.

the other side is the "enforcement"department where they walk onto your business and they find something wrong they fine you on the spot...

nice to see that they are finally getting proactive instead of reactive... be interesting to see what their report will be next tuesday since we do not have a on site safety person.. expecting every department to at least get a couple of minus's

need to edit this word they are the consultative services bureau.....
only the" industrial hygiene consultant" <health>came out today the only things she found was a list about a mile long, all i could do was a inner smile .thats what you get for taking short cuts.....and i was schooled on a few things as well. only 5 30 day fixes the rest we are waiting on her report and those will be 60 day fixes.

for those of you who own a business you have till june 1st 2016 to switch over to sds<safety data sheet> from the old msds<material safety date sheet>.
and you are required to save all those msds sheets for 30 years<archive them>.... oh i smell a whole bunch of trees being cut down and soy beans being ground into ink for all the sds we need to print out .

and the ppe<personal protection equipment required>and training... best your employees have them and have been trained... if you own a business that the
employees are mobile you better have a sds book inside the vehicle with every chemical they use...

oh on a happy note i had a great day...

Archive MSDS sheets for 30 years??? :th

Regulation-Strangulation Nation.

It has gotten ridiculous. No wonder businesses and companies have left the country. The last job I had, I gave the safety meetings and compiled the MSDS book on every single product that was used. It was 5 inched thick. Gheesh. Why can't it just be that if you are stupid enough to spray a can of ether starting fluid in your mouth and you die from it, you got what you deserved for being so dumb? ;)

What is the difference between MSDS or SDS?

the msds sheets were difficult to understand and come in many forms, the sds is the global standard now (GHS)<Globally Harmonized System> of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals

sds sheets have this now

Section 1, Identification includes product identifier; manufacturer or distributor name, address, phone number; emergency phone number; recommended use; restrictions on use.

Section 2, Hazard(s) identification includes all hazards regarding the chemical; required label elements.

Section 3, Composition/information on ingredients includes information on chemical ingredients; trade secret claims.

Section 4, First-aid measures includes important symptoms/ effects, acute, delayed; required treatment.

Section 5, Fire-fighting measures lists suitable extinguishing techniques, equipment; chemical hazards from fire.

Section 6, Accidental release measures lists emergency procedures; protective equipment; proper methods of containment and cleanup.

Section 7, Handling and storage lists precautions for safe handling and storage, including incompatibilities.

Section 8, Exposure controls/personal protection lists OSHA's Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs); Threshold Limit Values (TLVs); appropriate engineering controls; personal protective equipment (PPE).

Section 9, Physical and chemical properties lists the chemical's characteristics.

Section 10, Stability and reactivity lists chemical stability and possibility of hazardous reactions.

Section 11, Toxicological information includes routes of exposure; related symptoms, acute and chronic effects; numerical measures of toxicity.

Section 12, Ecological information*

Section 13, Disposal considerations*

Section 14, Transport information*

Section 15, Regulatory information*

Section 16, Other information, includes the date of preparation or last revision.

*Note: Since other Agencies regulate this information, OSHA will not be enforcing Sections 12 through 15(29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(2)

along with pictograms on them..
