Got this little end table/nightstand at a yard sale the other day for $4. Other than being really filthy and having a little water damage to the paint on the top, this thing is an incredibly well built piece of furniture. Tightly constructed of some really tough material, it weighs a ton.

This is going to be my new top bar hive body that I'm going to bait and try to lure in a wild swarm into. Just needs a few modifications, a metal wrapped "roof", a new paint job and something to lure in the bees.

That's going to be very interesting to follow your bee keeping adventure Bee. Take lots of pictures! I hope it works out for you. I've also had some interest in top bar hives. Have you ever read "The Barefoot Gardener"?

Nope, but I've owned the Barefoot Beekeeper book and I love doing bees all natural...that's how I do my chickens and gardens too. I built a top bar hive once before out of a half blue plastic barrel that worked just fine, but this little stand really appealed to me.

I've been praying about beekeeping and asked the Lord to put materials for it in my path if it's His will for me to get into that this year and this little stand comes along looking like a Lang hive body to my eyes and it was so very cheap, that I figured the Lord wanted me to do bees again.

I am walking on clouds right now. I have a painting my grandmother did in her late 80s of Tuscany county side. Because my grandmother painted it, I wanted to display it better then just hanging on the wall. I have been looking for a artist easel for it. I found a really cool arts and crafts one on craigslist. The seller wanted $100 and would only come down to $90, it was such a interesting easel I bought it. It was very very dirty mush have been stored for years in a attic. My furnture refinisher dropped off his dog for grooming this morning, I gave him the easel to clean up. He just called me, and asked if I knew what I had . Under the years of dirt was signature of Stickey. He was top maker of mission furniture. mission was in vogue about 20 years ago now replaced by Mid century modern. Easel worth about $700 in todays market, 20 years ago would have been close to $3,000. Perfect piece to display grandmothers panting!!!
