We don't get trick-or-treaters because of how out of the way we live. I did have a little boy (probably 10) order eggs today that was still in his Halloween costume, he went as the main character from Zelda, a video game (Imagine one of santa's elves but with sword and shield, or maybe a Robin Hood-like character). It was definitely an unexpected surprise - most of our customers are older folks who don't show up in Halloween costumes. :)

We get a few. People that participate leave the porch light on and the parents drive their kids around. I love the little kids, they are so cute!

@Nyboy, here's a grin for you, one year, when I was a kid, my dog had puppies. I left to go trick or treating and came home to no puppies. My mom waited until there was a wad of kids at the door and held up a puppy. "Who wants a puppy?" ME! ME! ME! And she handed out 5 out of 5 puppies, the kids stashed them in their candy bags and took off! We laughed about that for years. Wonder what those parents had to say when their kids dumped a puppy out of the candy bag?

We probably got around 15-20 kids this year. Halloween is sort of a mixed bag for us. Halloween ITSELF is a pretty big deal here (when you live in Sleepy Hollow, it more or less has to be). The parades, the readings at The Old Dutch Church (up until a few years ago, the village actually hired a person to dress up as the Headless Horseman and ride through the other manor.) On the other hand, we aren't exactly the most convenient area in the manor. Our cul-de-sac only has 5 houses, so a lot of families bypass us to keep going straight down the line. By and large most of the T/T's are the kids of the other people on the close, or right below us.

Parents giving away the family's puppies and their kid's trick or treat candy!?!

We always get a few kids at the door. I will try to stay out of the candy until it gets late enuf that the little kids won't be out but there's always so few that there should be plenty for me :).

The lights go off when --- we get tired and want to go to bed ... since that's about 7 ... no, kidding!

Steve, I stopped buying Halloween candy many years ago when it became obvious that the trick or treat candy always seemed to be my favorites, and I could no longer justify the off-chance some goblin or other would find his way to our door.

The most I do now is support the cause by purchasing the treats my son passes out.

a very casual cell phone shot ... should have turned off the porch light but might have been ... attacked from my blind side!!!

When I went out to take a picture, 2 tiny boys were standing outside the door! One said, "trick or treat!" The other said, "you look like a mailman!" Big Smile!

I was wearing denim pants & a blue shirt and had a green hat on ... NyBoy, see what you can get away with for a costume?

Steve :)

You ran to the store?

I was cheated! My dad always took treats out of our bags to give to the ghosts and goblins that came to our house.

Some tradition, huh?
Red, sounds like your dad was just starting his Scrooge act a little early.
