Do You Get A Lot of Trick or Treaters ?

Red, sounds like your dad was just starting his Scrooge act a little early.

No, actually, I think we were pretty much spoiled by Dad. And we always had more than enough candy the next morning anyway. Dad just had a few quirks -- habits that we laugh about today.
* He always expected to have enough candy for the trick or treaters, but if we ran out before the end of the night, he didn't want to disappoint late comers or turn off the light too early.
* He disliked spending good money for wrapping paper after buying gifts. Adults had their presents wrapped in newspaper while we kids got the Sunday funnies he'd saved all year.
* He refused to buy a Christmas tree early, always waiting for the last minute sales of Charlie Brown trees. One year I spent my own money ($18) on a really nice tree. I told Mom it cost $12. That's what she paid back to me. Then she told Dad the tree was $6. He complained we had spent too much for the tree.

no trick or treaters for me either. my house is to far off the road so no one ventures up the driveway.

We just had a few here. We drive Alexii (who is 3) to a different neighborhood to trick or treat, because this one is too scary (for me) to take him door to door in.

I buy butterfingers to give out to the kids because it is the only candy I really don't like. I'm trying to reduce how much sugar I eat. Had my first completely sugar free day on wednesday.

This year Alexii went to his first "scary" house to trick or treat, and as it happens our last house for the night. They had a strobe light, a fogger, and some creepy music playing. Alexii stopped at the stoop and said, "Nooooo! No house! Monsters bad!" and ran back to daddy.

He has been talking about "Scary bad monsters" ever since.

@Smart Red, we could be related! Mom wrapped our presents in the funny papers, we always had Charlie Brown trees and dad always thought we paid too much for them.

Now wrapping gifts in funny papers is being green a good thing. Our parents where just ahead of their times.

Pulsegleaner every halloween friends and I do one of the Sleepy Hollow Tours, then dinner at horsefeathers. This year we did the pumkin Blaze on Sunday night, it is always sold out months before. I wish I knew you where in Sleepy hollow I had a extra ticket, you could have joined us. Last year did the cemetery tour, had a great guide. While at the old church I was surprized to see a marker saying " a witch was buried here". I always thought witches can't be buried in church graveyards. I came home and goggled witch at old dutch church, and found her story. Very sad she must have been a healer

I started counting the trick and treaters... one, two and MANY... my wife over purchased the candy from last year ans still we ran out by TWO candies. One group had a yearling little girl, after I gave her a candy, her grandma said to her to say thank you... she did and blew me a kiss, I blew one back , so she did this many more times. much later about a 13 year old dressed a s darth vader with a glowing sword came with a group of 7 others, so naturally he and I had a sword fight with me using one of my cruthes as a sword ... one and all had loads of fun. NO candy for me AGAIN !!!

Our other 4 neighbor kids finally showed up, with mom and dad. They were soldier, princess, super hero and bumblebee. They all trooped in and we chatted for about an hour while the kids buzzed around on a sugar high and played fetch with Wren in my very small "Great Room".
The kids were so cute, I just love having good neighbors!

That brought our total of trick or treaters to 7.

I am so tired of eating chocolate .... next year I'll buy one bag ON Halloween so we won't be taste testing so much.

Not even the Bigfoot kids showed up last night. Course, they're getting to be sophisticated teenagers these days. Why, a few weeks ago I saw kid bamoogabulbazooh break dancing up in an Oak tree.
