No, actually, I think we were pretty much spoiled by Dad. And we always had more than enough candy the next morning anyway. Dad just had a few quirks -- habits that we laugh about today.Red, sounds like your dad was just starting his Scrooge act a little early.
* He always expected to have enough candy for the trick or treaters, but if we ran out before the end of the night, he didn't want to disappoint late comers or turn off the light too early.
* He disliked spending good money for wrapping paper after buying gifts. Adults had their presents wrapped in newspaper while we kids got the Sunday funnies he'd saved all year.
* He refused to buy a Christmas tree early, always waiting for the last minute sales of Charlie Brown trees. One year I spent my own money ($18) on a really nice tree. I told Mom it cost $12. That's what she paid back to me. Then she told Dad the tree was $6. He complained we had spent too much for the tree.
