Actually, the crisper drawer does have another unintentional function According to some of my books, if your fridge is in good shape and not constantly full of condensation inside (as some of my old ones are) the crisper drawer is a good place to ripen bloomy rinded cheeses if you bought them too young (provided you bought a whole one, not a piece). I think the makers of Teleme (a cheese from California) actually put the recommendation on the box.

perhaps a nice place to star gazaing? and looks nice. i could go for that right now. they are not big bean eaters... :)
I dunno, they are not big on Osha safety or some other details we take for granted because they are a foreign culture and Americans and British have 200 years of failure trying to make the culture integrate itself into our viewpoints. I say Viva la Dif and do not fall.
