Pretty pictures get me in the flower and tree catalog sections, but I can buy my veggies based on information alone -- and usually check that out on line as well.

The ultimate cruelty? When you receive more seed catalogs after you've already bought all the seeds you are planning to buy this year. Period. Can't buy anymore. Mustn't. It's just impulse buying after that.

Cruel, those catalog folks. :smack

I like that Johnny's gives growing information, like they are taking me for a serious grower, not some dreamer throwing seeds out the back door. But I see that Territorial seed gives growing info too.
I am finally starting to get itchy fingers. So far I haven't had much urge to plant anything this year. But I think that is starting to change. If I don't have something new to try, it is kind of "ho-hum" been there, done that. Fickle? I prefer the term "Adventurous."

The impulse is not the problem...buying is the problem. The best way to save money is to stop spending it and I have seeds aplenty by now, but money is not aplenty.
I have stopped going to stores to stop my impulse buying. It works! Stops the impulse and stops the spending money. :p

Amen! I do the very same thing. Unless I really have to enter a store, I don't do so and, when I have to, I have a definite list in my hand and stick to that list. And I don't go down any aisles that are not pertinent to the list, just to "look"...look turns into covet, covet to buying. I know my weaknesses and they are impulse purchases.

The final seed order will go out this morning - to Fedco. This was the way it happened in 2015, too!

It's okay :). I go through the flashy catalogs, which are all kind of mainline or wannabe outfits with plenty of choices. Maybe I should start with Fedco; good value for the $. Maybe I could have found everything left through Jungs' egardenersplace, if they still had that website and allowed consolidating orders from their many catalogs. Maybe I should have started with Johnny's, since Fedco has many of the same varieties.

Anyway, there are very few choices of anything new. I said that last year and it remains true. I'm mostly going for varieties that almost rate as olde friends. That's one of the problems as one company or another drop these varieties and I have to scout around to find them elsewhere.

I've got everything else from everybody else. Nothing from Fedco has to go in the soil mix early but it's just about time begin plant starts to "populate" about 2/3 of my garden space, spring 2016!

Steve :)

Spent too much this morning. Cataloging while DH scraped snow tracks off the driveway. Now, all I think I'll be buying are some small fruits.

On the plus side, I'm way below 'normal' for this year.

So far.
