Didn't want to spend thousands on some dinky plants, so, I went hunting on my farm.
I have a lot of useless, unedible rush that now finally has a purpose! Unfortunately, a cart full cleans up to a tiny amount...but at least I didn't waste a cent!
Many more huge clumps out there to dig up.

One big, 2 small, still left to dig up. Even larger clumps in a different paddock.

that looks like a grass that we have here that was intentionally planted by either my ex-step-dad or Mom. i took out the main clump of it soon after starting to garden here because of how tough it was to control once it got established anywhere. so now i find clumps of it here or there and remove them as soon as i notice them, but it might now be endemic. the really hard spot to get it all out of is the strawberry patch.

Common Rush, it loves the sand mixed soil, that's usually damp, in my fields by the creek. Less of them in the harder soil. Seems they like the fluffy dirt best. I think some grew 4ft last year, couldn't mow them down. Lol
But yeah, stores sell it as decor. Adds visual texture, but I hate that nothing eats it.

mowing them doesn't accomplish anything. if it did not reseed i'd happily plant it at the end of the erosion gully i need to eventually fill in to help filter the water and slow it down before it escapes, but since it does reseed i couldn't do that to everyone downstream (or downditch is more accurate).

the quackgrass will have to do (it's also pretty indestructable as it was what was used to line the ditch to begin with).

Had problems with the uv not working this year. Moved it to the bog's pump directly & problem fixed.
