I'm continuing to fill my new raised beds with soil & compost. I knew this would be heavy work for me :old :old :old  It took it out of me yesterday :th But I have recovered overnight. :weee  :gig

I shall try to break up the heavy work today with more gentle pursuits like potting-on stuff in the little green-house. Today is forecast to be the hottest this year :coolsun I have a lot of Thai pepper seedlings I need to pot up plus aubergines. I put some squash seeds into pots yesterday morning & they are already poking through the earth -- I was so shocked this morning when I saw them -- kind of SCARY.....!! BUT GREAT. :clap I have been watering with aspirin water as per the post (on here somewhere). It did perk up the tray of seedlings I dropped (butter side DOWN, of course). They recovered very fast thank goodness. :bow

Karanleaf, Reinbeau & digitS': The bruises are coming out nicely & don't hurt now; thanks to the arnica pills & cream, I think. I always keep it in my medicine kit as I bruise very easily, always have.

Karan: Lots of luck for this busy holiday weekend to you & DH.
HOPE YOU SELL MASSES of plants! :fl :thumbsup GO FOR IT....!
I hope the word of mouth from a couple of weeks ago has got around! You will be as BUSY as :bee :bee :bee

HAPPY GARDENING EVERYONE :tools but remember to sit awhile & appreciate what you have already achieved.

Hi Hattie! :frow

I've always wanted to go to the Chelsea Flower show (or even see it on TV). It would be so fun!
I went to the Ellerslie Flower Show in New Zealand a couple years ago and they had some of the exhibits from the Chelsea show. :ep Wow! They are so amazing!

Wow Hattie... you never seem to take a real break (sleeping at night is pretty common... its NOT a real break ;) )

I am still dying to see everything you've accomplished.... because its sounds like where I would like to be in about 5 years... though I bet it would take 20 or more.

Today I threw in some pole bean seeds to grow up my corn... I only have about 6 corn stalks big enough, the rest are kinda shabby looking. So I have learned the corn I soaked for 24 hours and then planted, did better then the corn I soaked for an hour then planted! There is a HUGE difference in germination too. Good learning there...

I got a good look at one of my flower beds today, and I realize I over planted the one by the deck. Some of the plants I had to guess on spacing and went about 8-12" on... they needed a good 18" or more spacing! So I'm going to transplant some foxglove, and some blanket flowers.

I'm even going to plant my new Hypertufa planter I made!!!!! How exciting!!!!

My blanket flower just flopped right over when I transplanted it... its really struggling, so I gave it some water in the hypertufa pot and we'll just wait until it perks up (cross your fingers it perks up) then I'll get some photos.

I think it will help when I actually get to mulch my pots and the rest of the garden... hubby promised me he would run and get us mulch on Saturday. $20 gets us a truck load of the red mulch I like. We'll see!

Yes, you would certainly love the Chelsea Flower Show! :ep It is THE MOST AMAZING SHOW --- just packed with ideas, plants, & stunning designs from international garden designers. These gardens are all separately financed by large organisations, all trying to outdo each other! On the other hand they have little gardens designed by the winners of various competitions for children & home gardeners. In the middle of this vast array of gardens there is a huge tented area which houses the offerings from all the best specialist nurseries in Britain plus amazing exhibits showing off the native plants of many countries of the world. As you enter this huge tent you are hit by the incredible accumulation of glorious smells -- it's like a heavenly dream! :love
Everywhere you look you just gasp at the beauty of each of the stands -- it literally TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY! In the past I have taken visitors from other countries there & they have been stunned that such a little country can put on such a show, especially in the middle of London. On top of this next month we have The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, another huge show: this year's theme is the life of Henry VIII. Hampton Court was his palace in the 16th Century.

I have just edited this to add Jekka's Herb Farms e-mail they send out; this one celebrates her winning yet another Gold Medal for her exhibit for this years show. The photos are small but you can see how beautiful it is. She is our foremost grower of herbs -- if you navigate the site you can see everything she sells & all the info on the herbs. I thought it might interest you all.

Have a great holiday weekend, enjoy yourselves & your families! :celebrate
