$1.31(.9%)/gallon yesterday
We used to drive across the border to Indiana to get the best price, but now we have it.
I do use a WM discount card that we use exclusively for gas. Our gas account payments are tracking so much better than 2 years ago, and I've heard that we may bottom out at 99 cents/gallon soon.

That would be very cool! But I would expect it to stay there for about 3 hours before shooting back up to at least as high as what we've been paying for the last few years.

Darn. I sounded like a pessimist just then didn't I?
A pessimist might say, "I wonder how long before my nearby gas station will close."

I watched as local owners either baled or switched to self-service when that wave of "transition" hit. Luckily, I made the transition and sitting at the window of a self-service gives a college student time to do homework :). Writing papers and pumping gas don't go together ... altho sliding under a car gave one the chance for a nap on the creeper ;).

One of the locals who bailed didn't come back to gas stations but went into tires. Great success! Lost a run for congress but sold out and retired rich.

Hmmm. I think I just turned pessimism into something sparkly! Well - adapt and adjust, er something.

Their money is not in selling gas but foot traffic buying cokes and snacks.

We had motor oil.

There was a pop machine, outdoors. That's it ;).

This was over 30 years ago and the very first self-service here.

Oh, I think I understand what you mean ... duh.

The gas stations now rely on their convenience store products so, they may not close.

Okay, what more could they do to make $$? Hey! The lottery. Oh. They've got that? Well, maybe they could have a little numbers game and a deck of cards in the back ...
