When I have a glass of red wine, I get a acid burn feeling . So ... have a glass of vin- rose or white wine with no issues. If you have a vin- rose or white wine, you could add a can of gingerale and you have a glass that tastes like champagne . ;) :ya

:sick Champagne is vile stuff too! Took one sip at a wedding and almost spewed it out all over the place! I can't understand how folks just swill this stuff like it's apple juice when it tastes like someone has soaked the back end of a hog in some bile. :sick

Can't they make any wine that is even remotely palatable???? Even Jose Cuervo was able to make tequila passably ingestible...not much flavor but a pleasant warm sensation in the digestive tract. o_O

Sangria might be more to your taste Bee. Very grape juice like.

I've tried it because other folks said the same...it was bitter nasty too. Why is it that folks want to make a perfectly nice grape or fruit juice into something bitter tasting? I never understood why so many folks will just sit there and drink bitter things with a smile on their face....I'd be in full on facial contortions. :sick Like coffee...who was the first person who drank some of that swill and said, "MMMMMMMmmmmmmm! Delightful!!!!"

Had to been missing some major tastebud development or something. ;)

Bee... if you can find " Chatau La Salle " , grown, pressed and bottled by Christian Brothers ... our friend Brother Justin bred, grew the Muscat grape vines, made the wine . I was one of the first people to taste this fabulous sweet desert wine that has become everyones' favorite .:drool :thumbsup As for coffee, I don't like the straight stuff that is sold at the coffee houses. What I do is pour a cup of coffee into a large mug and add a cup + of cow squizzings then heat the mixture in a micro wave. Pretty good that way. ;)

I'll have to ask for that, Bob...I'd really like to be able to take a little wine now and again for general health purposes but just can't gag it down normally. :thumbsup

@Beekissed have we ever polled you on okra?

It's been said that an anthropologist is a scientist who doesn't believe in the germ theory of disease. It's only partly true. An anthropologist only makes use of the scientific method in the study of human culture ;).

Out there in the cuisines of other societies, there are some very diverse foods and food preparation techniques.

Don't quite know what anthropology has to do with it, but I'll bite....

I've had it in gumbo and rather liked the flavor but have heard it's quite slimy in some types of preparations, which would likely negate the flavor for me if I had to eat it prepared in that manner.

Diverse foods aside, most of the people in my immediate family can't bear the taste of wine, beer or coffee either, so maybe it's a genetic thing or even a nurture thing...we were not raised imbibing such liquids, though my parents drank coffee now and again and Dad would have a beer every July 4th.

One sip out of Mom's coffee cup as a toddler was enough to put one off coffee for life and one sip of the one beer Dad had each 4th of July had the same effect....BLECH!!!! Bitter, nasty, horrible can't get the taste out of your mouth kind of a deterrent!

Quite possibly my parents knew that and allowed those toddler time sips to render a good result...lessen the chance of caffeine and alcohol addictions in their nine children. ;)

Except for the alcohol part, what is medicinal value of wine over grape juice? If it is the alcohol, I'll add ever clear to grape juice.

My neighbor has a Bud Light every evening. She is a sprightly 87. Says her doctor told her to do it to prevent UTIs.
