I am not a wine snob. My box of White Zinfandel has been the fridge for a year.....almost done with it. "Dry" is just another word for "sour" and I don't like it, much too icky for me.

We don't drink much coffee anymore, maybe two or three cups a day but we found a brand we really like https://www.kickinghorsecoffee.com/en/coffee/kick-ass-whole-bean they make several blends but we like their 'Kick Ass':).

Oh hey! I drink that one too Annette! It's a one cupper of that for me, it's got a lot more kick than others. I guess that's the reason for the name. One thing I learned at The Roasterie tour in KC KS, was that the lighter the roast the more caffeine the beans contain.

I like a dark roast. I found a decaf that they make that is dark and tastes awesome. It's called Midnight Rendezvous, and it doesn't taste like decaf at all. They explained how decaf is made and I was shocked to learn that a lot of decaf is processed with formaldehyde. :sick Not theirs though, they send theirs up to B.C. for a water process.
Sorry, I'm sounding like a commercial.

Formaldehyde?!! I suppose one might be around longer on that but who'd want to be?

I've been making coffee with whole beans again lately. It isn't that I don't enjoy the hot soymilk coffee that using instant allows but the whole bean is awfully good. The "naturally zero caffeine" roasted figs (Coffig) can be used in either and I've continued to keep caffeine down by using that. I can't do better than 50% because it just tastes like a fruit dessert and not coffee if I do that. Nothing wrong with a fig dessert but I'm inclined to having those desserts with coffee!

Honestly, I'm not too persnickety about my caffeinated coffee but this brand is at the supermarket ... I'll see if they carry it as whole bean.

Wow... now I know why I hate most instant coffee. :ep No formaldehyde while I'm still breathing, if you please.

On alcohol and other substance abuse:

Carrie Fisher was a drug addict. She realized that she would have to quit using.

I don't circulate in those circles, @baymule .

Mom had one very accomplished cousin and I knew him, his father and sister. They were nice people but quirky ... maybe we all are but some have more common quirks.

The cousin's single-mindedness set him apart from others. I doubt if that characteristic would have protected him from self-destructive behavior.

When work was broken in to and robbed the police asked about my clientele. I said I doubt one of my clients they are all very successful. Cops reply was you would be amazed who having money troubles because of drugs, alcohol or gambling. I have been to Hollywood parties of the super powers, if the drugs where not good people talked about you as a host.

Why do successful people self destruct on drugs?

That depends on what your definition of successful is. Hopefully true success is not measured in dollars and notoriety.

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

I mean people who's success is worldly. They supposedly have everything in the way of worldly goods and things, yet are lacking in what really matters, hence they self destruct with drugs. What a waste. Their success could be turned around to do good with what they have been blessed with, yet they prefer to pack powder up their nose, pop pills or get up close and personal with needles.

Few are they who actually use worldly blessings for the good of others. Not bashing wealth, just the sad people's lives that don't understand how to use it.
