Here is a link to an article about communal vegetable gardens in the desert of Mauritania. this project is very near to my heart as it is supported by Oxfam. I work as a volunteer for them in one of their 2nd-hand bookshops, sorting donated books, cleaning & pricing them, then selling them to the customers who flock to our beautiful old shop in my nearby market town. There are a net-work of these shops all over the country along with their other shops which sell clothes & bric-a-brac. We raise a lot of money which supports these types of long term schemes & the kind of emergency help that is needed in situations like the Haiti earthquake.

Hey, just give us a little time and we will all be pulling a plough, because we ARE fast becoming a third would country. Just look around. :duc
Yep....no "dynasty" lasts forever.....ask the Romans, the Incas, the Aztecs, ect.
The "rise" of U.S. 'power' was fueled by capitalism (ahh, the love of money) and, now, is being 'brought down' by it.....and the facade and scramble to "right the ship" continues.

Sure am glad that I love to raise vegetables.

Note to self:....NEVER move to a desert nation.

Seems that a lot of the people who live in these hot, arid, sandy areas of the world, tend to have a lot more aggressive behaviors.....most of which, don't have ANY rationale attached to it, at all.

Sure do hate it, for the good people in those areas....just struggling to survive.

Good day (morning, here....afternoon, there)Hattie,

Hahahahahahaha....This guy and his perceptions are very entertaining and, caught me, totally, "off guard".....in a good way. I'm gonna really enjoy his archives, too, I'm quite sure.
Not the "normal" gardener's blog....huh? (Do I mean....he's not normal, or...the blogs not normal. The answer is....yes)

Got a question, Hattie....

In the UK, before planting seed potatoes, are the sprouts removed or left on, when planting?
