Not cold here, only got down to 51 F. last night, but the wind must have gusted to 40+ mph. It blew over the chickens nesting box structure. They were not happy. :(

Carol Dee, I can empathize. Your view looks like my view. It is pretty much snow free 15 miles south though, so I got two days of work in
so far.
Yesterday was gloriously sunny, last night was clear and twinkly, and today was cold, windy and gloomy. Tomorrow it's supposed to snow.

We have another storm coming. Wet snow-maybe only a few inches for us. We are driving back to Boston on Friday for my husband's 1 month check up for his knee replacement-the end of the storm. His surgery was done the day of our giant snow storm. Can't believe it. It's not as if you can just reschedule with these famous Boston doctors. Tom is doing great!. If any of you are putting off joint replacement=don't!!!!It's such a miracle. He had VERY LITTLE PAIN!!!!

By the looks of the map in the 1st post:

Texas must have blown all the storms into the other corners of the US!

I kind of enjoyed our little bit of snow this afternoon. The flakes were so far apart that it was rather dreamlike. A long way from a Midwest blizzard but our forecast is for rain and snow tomorrow. Cape Mendocino is really getting hammered by a Pacific storm but that is many, many miles from here. I can't see much that is really heading our way unless that California storm has set its sights on us . . .

After a foggy start we got sunshine today. :coolsun :coolsun :coolsun
It felt so good, so I spent most of the day
outside, getting everybody groomed and then took all the critters for a jog with the quad. I ride. THEY jog.

I also walked around and took note of spring chores that are waiting on the snow to melt. I got so overwhelmed I was instantly tired
and had to come inside and sit down!

I'd take a lot more of that sunshine, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow and most of next week.

It was warm and mostly sunny here today, as it was yesterday, but I was busy both days and couldn't get out in the sun today till after the wind came up-big time! I thought about planting some mustard seed in the garden, but figured the wind would blow it out of my hand before I had a chance to weight each seed down with a dirt clod.:(

OK, I've been waiting patiently for this early spring to come...well, ok maybe not so patiently. Spring is six days away, it's 22 with an inch of snow on the ground. Now can I go groundhog hunting??

It's 49.6 degrees here this morning! A small group of clouds to the east foretelling a beautiful sunrise glowing red.

Spring has surely sprung here in Northern California. I actually at this time think we won't have any more frosts. We sure need rain though. The lake, source of water for 2 and a half Counties, is only about 70% full. It feeds Lake Mendocino which is maybe 80%. In turn, that feeds much larger Lake Sonoma which is almost never less than 80% full. They treat that one as if it is empty if it gets to 70%. I know, go figure.

Warming up to get to it in my garden today! I also have some photos to take to email my boss of some huge leaning Firs that were cut down a couple days ago. I'm dressing for a warm working day today.

We're supposed to hit 60 today! With rain likely. At least it won't be white. Pruning and lacing out a slew of Japanese Maples today (yeah, I know it should have been finished last month  ) so I'm dressing for rain. Steves babies should all have a nice visit in the GH!

Whoa, Marshall! It sounds like the authorities might be willing to allow your lake to run dry if those larger lakes require water . . . What happened to beaver ponds? We knew they served a purpose. BTW: surviving beavers are starting to get bad press because they are attacking dogs. Keep your dogs away from the beavers!

That 60 is a big, BIG deal! Until this week, the warmest temperature so far this year was 52.

I see 2 rhubarb buds and there is about 2" of growth on my chives. Chopped up with an omelet, those chives will be my first veggie from the garden. It is supposed to be colder soon even with a chance of snow but I'm guessing that I'll have chives with an omelet in just about 1 week!
