OMG! I haven't been out front this morning, but it looks and sounds as if the neighbors are having a fence installed.

OMG! From here -- and I can't get a really good look without going outside -- it appears to be a solid fence made of metal shed siding a good eight feet high and in 32 inch panels of at least four colors, forest green, grey, brick red, and brown. Gonna be colorful if not actually circus-like.

OMG! Not a bit kosher since fence rules-of-etiquette require the best side facing your neighbors. Unless, of course, they plan to paint my side? Also, I haven't checked to see if the fence is set back from the property line as required for everything except line fencing and line fences need to be agreed upon materials.

OMG! The neighbor did say his wife likes her privacy. I guess so if that's what they plan for their half of the distance. Pity all my buildings are set some 20 feet higher than the line in the gully. As if I really cared! I can't remember ever sitting here and watching what they were doing next door.

I do have some legal business to attend to in town. I might as well take off and see what's going on as I leave.

Son says it is about 1 foot to their side of property line. Hideous! I'll take a photo later. I said I didn't think it was legal since the better side MUST be toward their neighbor's, but son insists the colored 'face' side is the best side.

I'm not complaining. I got a fence that will keep the neighbor's dog(s) off my land. Nothing that a few years and some fast growing evergreens won't take care of.

I can't see how it will enhance their property value, though.

Here's the new fence.

Just wondering if you know any judge who would allow something like that to be built 30 feet from their buildings?

(Don't pay attention to the "junk". It's some the remains the neighbors left. Not mine. There's still some things that need resolution.)

Well @Smart Red after what I've been reading about the nut cases you've been dealing with that fence ugly as it is, is a small price to pay. As you say a few fast growing evergreens should do the job. Not everyone's cup of tea but laurel hedges grow pretty fast and they would provide a thick green barrier. We planted one just outside our fence to block some of the noise from the 4 lane highway we back onto, it cuts some of the noise but not all. All in all it must be a big relief to have any kind of a barrier between you and them :hugs.

If they left 1', good luck for them to mow it. Does look like a junk yard.....but it's theirs.....

When noxious weeds grow up, report them. Guaranteed they will come up. They will soon tire of cleaning up.
